Yotam Ben Horin - Reflections Of You

Reflections Of You

Yotam Ben Horin

  • Release2024

Track List

  1. Maybe Today-:--

    How do you start?
    Still living apart
    A broken tape to repair
Trying to stay while being away
But maybe it’s too late to change?

    I’ll be here for you
    If you want me to
I’m on both sides of your fence
    Do we make the rules?
Or am I a fool for playing the same song again?

    Travelling mess dressed for success
When was the last time you had sex?
One night stand for these lonely hands
    I’m a sleepwalker backtracking steps

    I’ll be here for you
    If you want me to
I’m on both sides of your fence
    Do we make the rules?
Now I am the fool for playing the same song again

    We’ll find a way
    I’m here to stay
    Maybe today?

  2. Reflections Of You-:--

Passed by a house on a hill
    I couldn’t find the basement
    Everyone was talking about
    Somebody that I never knew
White wall, stripes of red and black
    Spray painted covered in cracks
    Can’t bring you back

    Sometimes I get lost
It’s hard to believe a city could take me away from you
I’m falling asleep from livin’ the dream and sayin’ “I love you”

Played a show where you used to play
Strummed a quiet chord at a bar
    People were talking too loud
Blowing smoke, drinking alcohol on Halloween
October 20, wondering what could’ve been done?
    Your story spun

    Sometimes I get lost
It’s hard to believe a city could take me away from you
I’m falling asleep from livin’ the dream and sayin’ “I love you”
Your echo will haunt like a ghost from the past
A walk in the park with an hourglass
Turn over a leaf and still nothing new

Reflections of you in a silver lake
Reflections of you in a silver lake
    Reflections of me
    Reflections of you

  3. World In Two-:--

    You’re a good thing I’ll remember
from a bad time in my life
I fell under the nasty weather
Waiting for a day to arrive
Will I see you in Los Angeles?
    Skies are light and blue
Maybe if we’re lucky then we’ll see
    The world in two

Got up early, missed the train
While your head was spinning round and round
I was on the sidelines waiting for you to cross me out
If I see you in the rearview mirror
    I’ll go back for you
Maybe if we’re lucky then we’ll see
    The world in two

Hell, I’ve tried to mend a broken heart
Like a shooting star you vanished in the dark
A New Year’s Eve without the fireworks
    Could only make it worse

    How many days go by?
    There’s nothing we can do
    So many miles away
Till I can be with you

  4. Kick, Snare And A Tom-:--

Michael used to live next door to me
He was the first kid that I met on Haring St.
One grey morning back in 1985
New Jersey to Brooklyn seemed like a long drive

    Moving every year
    It never felt like home
New room only had two closet doors
Somebody left a set of old purple sparkle drums
    With no hats or cymbals
Just a kick, snare and tom

On the second floor of 2158
We didn’t have many toys or video games to play
I was roadrunner and he was Spiderman
Pretending that one day we’ll be in a real band

    I didn’t have any sticks
So, I played with silver spoons
    Michael’s Casio was missing keys
I heard he was a priest and nowadays he strums
On his guitar while I still bang away on
    a kick snare and tom

  5. Heavy Mental-:--

This is where it ends in the place where it begins
Just like pulling the last milk tooth from my mouth
The boat is in the yard
No, I won’t be very far
Tell my loved ones that I’m sailing to the stars

    I ain’t heavy but I’m lost
A bit too broken for this world
    Times are changing
But the memory stays the same
    I’m a human atom bomb
    Detonated by your charm
I won’t let me ever get the best of me

Spilling out my guts on a paper
    Getting cut by the lines
You can see them all across my face
Walking round myself with my heavy mental health
Turning the knob back from ten right down to three

  6. Love On A Leash-:--

You set out to rule the world
It didn’t quite work out as you planned
You got a wife and responsibilities
    They don’t seem to mend
    Teenage dreams slowly evaporate
    The world comes crashing down
Like a tidal wave washes away
    I’m still here at bay

    Baby, tell me
How can we do this much longer?
When we’re leading our love on a leash
How can you stay where the moon lights hiding
And the sun is out of reach?

    Got married in August
But I couldn’t even hang around
Or move into our first house in Italy
I keep saying one day we will
Sometimes I wonder how you put up with me
    I can’t deal with myself
If I keep running after the imaginary
    I might lose the real

  7. Wildwood-:--

Lauren, I wrote you a letter
    One you’ll never read
I was walking on the boardwalk
    In the Jersey summer heat
    Rollercoasters and tourists
    On the midway in tie-dyes
Days we weren’t big enough to go on all the rides

There’s a place where dreams come true
Arnold paid another visit just for you
Hasta la vista, baby’s running out of time
I was on my way to Wildwood
While you were fighting for your life

Remember the day that we lost you, December ‘91
At 10, it’s hard to understand how someone dies so young
Your life was an open casket for an angel dressed in white
First time I saw dad crying then the mourning came at night

There’s a place where dreams come true
Maybe heaven had a better plan for you
I’m sorry I couldn’t be there with you by your side
I was on my way to Brooklyn the day that Lauren died

Pictures and memories are all we leave behind
I was on my way to wildwood
Wishing that I could say goodbye

  8. Translucid-:--

You’re the shape I see from a distance
    A firecracker in July
    A silhouette
    I’m a streetlight
    Flashing right before your eyes
    Cast under a spell
    Spinning carousel

    Translucid
    Translucid

    It’s been a year in a crossroad
Are you pulling up or backing down?
I’ll cheer your day with a phone call
You’ll spend the night out on the town
Are you drinking with a friend?
I wish that I was there

    Translucid
    Translucid
    Translucid
I fall into your see-through arms

    Sometimes we don’t communicate
And live as if we’re separated
Let me know when I’ll see you around
    A tale you never tell
    Is there somebody else?

  9. Nothing Will Tear Us Apart-:--

Build a house in a space without a soul
Far from the pain that you felt
What could I write when you leave a question mark?
Hangin’ on, hangin’ over my head

    I live in a photograph
    Cut like a razor
    Nothing will tear us apart
    My love
    Don’t make it easy
    Nothing will tear us apart

I’ll stand with you in a still frame
    Black and white
Hope is a void that we fill
Like a lost melody someday you will return
And I’ll play to the tune of your face

    Distorted skies above you
I’ll stay until I leave you
I’m sorry for dragging your life into mine
    Somewhere safe in time

  10. 11th Hour-:--

I spent all of my hearts on you
Tried to get by on pennies
    We only had a few
Hoping I could change your mind
You’re a street that I could never find
I think that I could make it through
Driving in the dark to you

    I hear a voice on a telephone
    Heavy rain hits the windshield
You’re in a bed alone dreaming in another state
Don’t you wait for me I’ll be too late
I think that I could make it through
Driving in the dark to you

House on a hill in the middle of the night
    These headlights keep me awake

    Home at last
I’ll rest my weary eyes with you
    Before the sunlight
    Good night
